Today was our long awaited childbirth class!! Howard County General
offered three types of classes: 1 night a week for like 8 weeks, a long weekend
and the 6-hour quick class for the busy professional. We chose the quick 1 day
class and I was surprised at how good it was. It was in the same building at my
gynecologist, right next to the hospital. I learned a lot. It seemed like the
big difference between this and other classes were the lack of practice during
the class, but that’s ok. I can practice my breathing at home. We also learned
about the other pain medications other than an epidural which I might have to
try. One thing that shocked me was the size of the placenta! It was crazy.
Also, they showed us the little heart rate sensor that attaches to the top of
the baby’s head when they are delivering and the screw needle on the top of that
thing was huge! I would really prefer if that was not attached to our babies
head.
